Canadian Index Trader System (Overview)
The logic in trading for this system is exactly the same as the U.S. Index Trader but applied to the Canadian Equity XIU TSX 60.
Traders must bear in mind that the Canadian broad market is heavily weighted by commodity producers as well as large chartered banks. Therefore, the trade timing of the Canadian Index Trader will be different from its U.S. counterpart.
This system takes a position in the Canadian top 60 companies that form the TSX 60 index by issuing trade signals for XIU, the ETF that mimics the TSX 60 index. We issue buy/sell signals mechanically based on our algorithms as critical turning points of the market are identified. We take both short and long positions with XIU. You will notice from our Historical Trades Information page that we tend to keep up with the bull run but make significant gains during bear markets or corrections during bull markets.
This system is designed for relatively active investors wanting to succeed in varying market environments. We do not have any bias view of market conditions in our trading signals and we intend to keep it that way. Consider us technical traders rather than those with fundamental views.
- This system has evolved over three decades of trading experience, intense research and testing to produce entry and exit signals into the market with a high probability win ratio.
- This frequent form of trading has a strong emphasis on risk management through employment of progressive stop-loss and profit lock-in. This ensures: preservation of capital; progressive locking of gains; riding the trend no matter long or short; and emotional stability in trading with overall peace of mind.
- Few investors/traders have all that is required to be successful and consistently make money in trading: expertise, a mechanical rule-based system, and the discipline to execute trades with confidence. This can be a daunting task for investors wanting to enjoy life or who are busy with their day job.
